For my “digital signature” – i had to :

1. sign on a piece of white paper
2. take a photo of my signature ( now it has crossed the digital realm )
3. photoshop it until it’s nice and clean.

Splendid … i can use it for my next online transaction !

My signature has been altered for this post of course, never know what’s out there in the web.

Cameron’s Trip – Wrecked

1 May 2007 In: Rants

Cameron's Trip

And that – was not the prettiest of sights early in the morning. Our car is not in the wreck but jon’s car was the car just before the wira, managing to swerve before he skidded bursting a tire. Crazy guy was driving on the opposite side on the road at 80kmph, refusing to cut in despite repeated warning of horns. Must be on drugs or something.

So there goes our trip up cameron’s ! If you’re superstitious you can take it as an omen.. or just pure bad luck. But all is not spolit for we managed to eat our hearts out at jogoya for lunch, and catch Spidey 3 on iMAX ( dizzying near and big, with too melodramatic a spider story ).

I’m re-planning to go up Cameron’s on Mother’s day, staying at the Lakehouse. This is going to bankrupt me …

Mattresses and all

25 Apr 2007 In: Wedding

The truth is all my life, i was never quite bothered with all the mattresses, bed fittings and miscellanous sleep accessories that is now an inevitable buy now i’m getting married. I think i mostly slept on what my mom gave me. So recently, i’ve made a conscious decision to “educate” myself on the finer side of sleep ware.

Apart from sleeping on them ( the recommended duration is 15 minutes – not exactly practical in most departmental stores ! ) , consumer review has an article that looks pretty comprehensive for the first time buyers. However, i’m not too sure why everyone is raving about “isolation” and “pocketed springs”… must be for those light sleepers. don’t ever think it’s a problem for us.

Sleeping of course won’t be fun without some sleep tech, like the Simmons negative ion fibre Backcare series that promotes ion therapy while you hit the sack. Killer Tech. Killer price too. So despite the oft quoted analogy that we spend 1/3rd of our lives sleeping, i have decided to spent my money on a Naturatex Memory foam mattress from Macy’s@Ikano. It is after all made of Malaysian rubber. Can’t go wrong with that.

I saw this during lunch today at megamall -

Maxis TV Guy

It seems that teletubbies marketing is the rage among our telcos these days. The first thought that sprung to mind was a death match between our Red Maxis Guy and that Yellow Digi Guy. But we all know who’s the winner -

PSP

If you don’t already own one – the PSP is orgasmic !
To de-virginize it, you need some of these :

PIMP-Streamer
Streams your divx movies on your desktop to your PSP via WIFI. Only minor complaint is that it does not support WPA encryption.

MyTunesRSS
Streams your iTunes music library. Great looking Web GUI to manage your playlist and browse your collection.

PSPRadio
Web Radio straight to your PSP

cISO Converter
frontend GUI to compresses and decompress your ripped ISO/CSO/DAX.

To have fun, you need some of these games :

LocoRoco
Gitaroo Man
Lumines 2
Burnout
Tekken

Wedding invitation cards are so un-memorable and passe – so when it came time for me to plan my own wedding, i decided to scour the web for a web app that’ll do it right.

Googling ultimately brought me to mypunchbowl.com, a “party” planning site that was just launched early this year. On first impression, it looks pretty minimalistic, to the point of almost betraying it’s Web2.0 features.

Planning an event is simple – tell it the place, date and time. You can also upload an image or search flickr for one. Once that’s done, you do invitations for your events, and all it really requires is an email list. You can then send out the invitation and manage the invites. The site allows you to further control important details like the email content, “reply before” dates, max add. invites and most useful, whether the invitation list is kept private.

As i’m writing this themes are being added and it’s UI is being refined. It’s so simple to use i think i found my app.

Nokia 6300

7 Apr 2007 In: Gadgets

Nokia 6300My phone is becoming rather cranky as of late so i decided it’s time to trade it in. Since i don’t mind my mobile being deprived of PDA features ( overrated ! ) and music phones , and camera, i’ve decided to go for something … simple.

Being a simple non-3G phone, the Nokia 6300 sure doesn’t lack lustre. Having used it close to a month now, here’s my take on the phone :

Size : Excellent ( Slim and Light )
Build : Excellent ( Looks are beyond it’s price )
Keypad : Good ( Very SMS-able )
Screen : Excellent ( One of the best )
Battery Life : Poor ( Small Battery )
Connectivity : Normal ( Bluetooth, AD2P, No WIFI , USB! )
Music : Normal ( Nothing exciting, needs 2.5mm plugs )
Camera : Poor ( Crappy and doesn’t do justice to what’s on screen)
Voice Quality : Good ( As are most Nokia’s )
Verdict : BUY it already if all you do with your mobile is to talk, sms and a little bit of twiddling around ! It looks good and it’s priced right.

jajah

6 Apr 2007 In: Cool Apps

A newcomer to the VOIP bandwagon – jajah allows you to setup calls between landlines/mobiles around the world , with low rates typical of such service. The interesting bits are of course the freedom to use your house phone and mobile, which is free depending on which “group” your country is in.

On a PC to PC setup, i still prefer Skype as it continues to improves Skype Video, and where voice quality matters.

Skype killer with a twist ? Let’s wait and see. In the meantime – (more) power for the people !
